“All things therefore are charged with love, are charged with God and if we knew how to touch them give off sparks and take fire, yield drops and flow, ring and tell of him.”

“And for all this, nature is never spent;
There lives the dearest freshness deep down things;
And though the last lights off the black West went
Oh, morning, at the brown brink eastward, springs—
Because the Holy Ghost over the bent
World broods with warm breast and with ah! bright wings.”

“Let Him easter in us, be a dayspring to the dimness of us, be a crimson-cresseted east.”

  1. I love GM Hopkins. Such an innovative poet and such a deeply spiritual person in the true Ignatian tradition of finding God in all things. Each year my husband requires his seniors to memorize “God’s Grandeur” and they will proudly recite it years later at reunions. personally I prefer ” As Kingfishes Catch Fire” …. another wonderful Easter sentiment. Thanks for sharing and for the reminder.
